World War II Reenactment Weekend

What an awesome weekend! The Operation Market-Garden weekend was a huge success for West Overton. All the reenactors had a great time and are looking forward to next year.

The weekend started with a Memorial Dinner featuring Lt. Col. William Russell (Retired - USAR) as our guest speaker. Lt. Col Russell was stationed in the Pentagon during the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001. Lt. Col. Russell spoke about the importance of understanding our history as a nation and the importance of keeping history in mind when decisions are made about our nation.
It was a great weekend and the staff did a great job planning and coordinating the event. This weekend is just another example of the many great things to come at West Overton.

Below are two pictures from the weekend. The first is Lt. Col. Russell speaking and the second is one from the reenactment event.

Have a great evening!

  1. Speaking strictly as a spectator (WWII is about a hundred years too late for me to reenact it on my current budget) and event volunteer, this was an absolutely fantastic weekend! The battles both days were awsome! The soldiers from both sides were a pleasure to deal with, even before being supplied with their morning coffee. Everyone I spoke with or overheard indicated what a wonderful time, and the veterans especially seemed to appreciate the reenactors' attention to detail.
